The public is invited to attend the 20th Annual Art Walk Weekend coinciding with the 20th annual Jazz Fest on May 15 and 16 – one of the highlights of spring – a visual kickoff for the busy summer. Sponsored by the Cultural Arts Council (CAC) of Estes Park (EP), you can explore 11 gallery locations and enjoy the diverse offerings that make Estes Park and Allenspark’s art scene so unique.
The 2010 Spring Art Walk galleries have a selection of art in all mediums for savvy collectors and patrons to enjoy, ranging from wildlife and landscapes to contemporary and cutting edge works. Special exhibitions and art that reflect Estes Park’s beautiful Rocky Mountains can also be found created by local, state, and national artists. Most galleries are open between 10 AM to 5 PM.
Participants may enjoy exploring at their own pace using a self-guided tour map. Some galleries will host artists that will meet the public and answer questions about technique and style. Others will provide artistic demonstrations. Artist members of the Plein Air Painters of Estes Park (PAPEP) will be painting on location at both the Jazz Fest, and CAC Fine Art Gallery. The group is currently featured in a miniature show, “Small Works”, at the Arts Council’s facility.
Renowned OPA Master Artist Jeff Legg will present a still life painting demonstration at the CAC Fine Art Gallery on Saturday May 15 at 2 PM – free of charge. Take this opportunity to meet an internationally acclaimed artist, watch him work, and learn about new upcoming workshops in Estes Park.
The Spring Art Walk is free and open to the public. A self-guided tour map can be found at the Estes Park Convention and Visitor Bureau, the CAC Fine Art Gallery, the Jazz Fest, and all participating galleries. For more information contact the Cultural Arts Council of Estes Park at 970.586.9203 or e-mail: info@estesarts.com.
In 1990, Art Walk began as a single weekend event through the efforts of the Estes Park Gallery Association (a CAC Associate Member) and the CAC of Estes Park to coincide with the newly formed Jazz Fest Weekend. After the Gallery Association disbanded the CAC continued to present and expand the Art Walks into a year-round program promoting today’s local art scene.
